Warn Industries has been a long time sponsor and participant on the Ultimate Adventure, an annual on- and off-road trip that isn’t for the meek. It’s grueling. It’s difficult. It’s awesome. It combines lots of highway miles with lots of hardcore wheeling. You definitely need the right rig for this event, so this year, we’re building one.
The basis for our 2018 “UA” build is this 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (LJ). Corby Phillips, our Director of Sales for the truck category, picked the rig up at a salvage sale. It’s a pretty low-mileage (89,000) Wrangler, so it should have plenty of life in it. It will, however, need some work to get it UA-ready, as if you hadn’t guessed. We’ll be partnering with the Clemson 4 Wheel Center as well as Chris Durham Motorsports to make this rig GO PREPARED for the UA.
Plans for the rig include:
- One ton axles
- 39×13.50 BFGoodrich Krawlers
- Raceline wheels
- 2″ Skyjacker lift and custom suspension components
- WARN bumpers, body armor, winch, hubs, and more
- CJ front clip
If you didn’t guess by the mention of a CJ front clip, we’re going for a bit of a retro look with our UA Jeep. In addition, it’ll wear the famous Golden Eagle graphic and have gold wheels, too. A “spice” soft top will cap things off nicely.
So far, we’ve started the “demo” phase. This includes pulling the faded fender flares, removing the chrome tube bumpers, pulling the carpet (which must’ve had milkshake spilled on it since it smelled awful!), and taking off the rear tire carrier, hitch, and side steps. The frame is a little tweaked, but has since been pulled into spec. Additionally, you can see the BFGoodrich Krawlers are a sizable upgrade compared to the original tires.
We’re looking forward to the build as well as the Ultimate Adventure! Stay tuned for more updates on our UA Jeep!
